Warriors Return

It's just over 3 weeks since the heady day of April 3rd when we finally got to hear that Worcester Warriors had been granted a place in next season's Tier 2 competition. It has been pleasing to see the very many positive comments from supporters, players and journalists. It has also been pleasing to largely ignore the vitriol from others, safe in the knowledge that they are completely ignorant of the financial situation at Worcester and indeed of those clubs who have suffered the ignominy of administration in the past.

There has perhaps been less news emanating from Sixways since that Thursday than some supporters might have expected. However, given that we know potential rugby creditors have a relatively short window to make their claims following a return to the RFU fold, it was anticipated that this would be the club's priority for now.

The excitement of squad announcements, coaching staff, kit designs and season tickets is all to come.

If you haven't yet had a chance to read the Warriors official website there is a plethora of information with answers to most of the common questions on their "We Are Back" page. Also on this page is a chance to sign up for newsletters in order to keep fully up to date with developments. If you haven't already done this, please do so. It is hugely important in this modern media age that Worcester Warriors can demonstrate to potential sponsors and investors that they have a large and engaged supporter base. Registering in this way will help protect and sustain our club.

Coming Events

There's plenty going on for the Warriors family over the next few months.

First up is a Sports Quiz night in aid of the Worcester Warriors Foundation hosted by trustees and Worcester legends, Chris Pennell and Justin Clegg.

It's a BYO event so needn't break the bank. Snacks available. Doors open at 6.30 pm.

The Foundation are also hosting a Kid's Fun Day in two sessions on Thursday 29th May. Tickets again available through the link above.

The Sixways Summer Bash should be a real summer highlight with loads of activities including mini-golf, rodeo rugby and laser clay shooting; endless food & drink options and a guaranteed sing-song with tribute bands and West-end stars.

WWST are also planning a number of events over the Summer rugby break. With the British & Irish Lions touring Australia between June 28th and August 2nd, look out for viewing options for those not signed up to Sky Sports. We also have the annual Worcester Show to look forward to on Sunday 10th August where we will once again link up with our friends from WCFC Supporters Trust in the Sports Zone.

WWST Future

The most vigilant of you may have noticed that we have recently added an explanatory note to the top of our membership page. Clearly, when we began the process of setting up a Supporters Trust two years ago and even as we began to sign up members six months later, we had no real idea as to what the future held. We believe that the club has been extremely fortunate, largely by default and despite the actions of the administrators, to have found an ownership with honourable intentions and the business acumen to ensure future success.

We very much wish to continue in our role as the official supporter organisation of Worcester Warriors and we intend to fulfil our stated aim as being a help and not a hindrance to the club. We will continue to work closely with the club but will ensure that we remain a strong and democratic voice for supporters. Inevitably we expect that there will be some changes within our organisation now that the men's team is scheduled to return in September; we will continue to keep our members fully informed of these. As a reminder, the agenda and minutes of our board meetings continue to be uploaded to the Members' Documents page of our website. Hopefully there will be far less need for redaction of these going forward.
