AWAY TRAVEL 2025/26
I can't say that I was ever a regular on Warriors' away trips - two or three games per season was usually the most I could manage with a young family and a busy job. On the occasions I did travel it was usually by car with all the inconvenience that entails: paying through the nose for fuel and parking; driver boredom and fatigue (especially coming home); having to stick to drinking coffee rather than a couple of beers but, above all, missing out on the camaraderie of a shared adventure with fellow supporters..... and perhaps even a sing-song or two ♫♬♪ !
It has therefore been a bit of an eye-opener for me to travel as a rugby supporter to the "away games" that WWST has put on over the last eighteen months or so. Now that we also have "skin in the game", with Warriors taking to the field of play for the first time in over 3 years, I find myself looking forward to some away trips more than their home equivalents. The prospect of watching rugby at the historic Richmond Athletic Ground or from the De Mulder Lloyd stand at Castle Park is certainly enticing. However it is the trip down to Penzance to watch Warriors take on Cornish Pirates on March 28th that is top of my bucket-list for the coming season. Judging by conversations with many others, this seems to be a view that is replicated time and again.
That said, it's an awfully long way to travel for a single day (and pricey too) so we have singled out this fixture for special treatment:
CORNISH PIRATES AWAY - WEEKEND of MARCH 28th 2026
It is about 250 miles to Penzance and well over 4 hours travel in a coach - even on a good day! To make the trip viable it really needs an overnight stay. Indeed I'm sure that many of you will already been thinking of making a long weekend out of it. Taking a single Supporter coach will cost well over £1500 so it is imperative that we get enough people to make it viable. The likely cost of coach travel will be between £50 and £60 per person. Although the game is scheduled to be played on the Saturday, this is not yet set in stone; we think it is extremely unlikely that anyone would target a Friday night game but the Sunday afternoon remains a possibility. With these factors in mind and, wanting to maximise the opportunity for as many people to attend as possible, we propose taking coach(es) down early doors on the Saturday morning and leaving either early afternoon on the Sunday or post-match if it becomes a Sunday fixture.

We know it is a long way off but please could you take a few moments to vote on the following poll so we can get an idea of whether Coach Transport might be viable. In turn, this will enable everyone to book accommodation for the Saturday night with some degree of confidence.
Do you intend to travel to the Cornish Pirates Away game on the weekend of March 28th 2026?
Yes, I want to travel on a WWST arranged Supporter Coach
Yes, but I will be arranging my own transport
No, I won't be travelling to this game
Doubtless we will run this poll again in the coming months but if we can get some idea of demand early on that will be very helpful.
The most expensive trips otherwise are the London fixtures and the November trip to the Wirral to Caldy RFC. We will try and stick to a similar format for all the league away trips. Who knows - we may even need to sort out some options for the Play-Offs (hopefully not the relegation ones!)
FORMAT FOR AWAY TRIPS
Unlike under previous regimes at Sixways, coach travel to away games will now be organised solely by your supporters association (WWST) rather than Worcester Warriors Rugby Club. We will be using Commandery Coaches of Worcester as our transport provider.
The following are guidelines we will do our best to adhere to:
Transport tickets will be available to all supporters, not just members of WWST. However, "Subscribed Members" of WWST will benefit by being able to buy two tickets at a 15% discount. This discount will be automatically applied at checkout provided you are logged into your account.
WWST will be selling Transport tickets only; you should buy your Match-day tickets from the relevant home-team club. We will, of course, publish the link to Match-day ticket sales for each event.
We cannot afford to sell tickets at a loss so we will need to have minimum numbers for each coach we book. We have no intention of "profiteering"; to keep ticket prices down we will need to operate near capacity. It is possible (but not at all desirable) that we may have to cancel coach travel if numbers are not achieved - we will endeavour to inform everyone at least a week before the match if this is the case. Full refunds will be provided if we do need to cancel.
Specific coach seats cannot be reserved but if you have concerns regarding accessibility please get in touch via our contact form or email trust@wwst.co.uk and we will try to ensure your needs are met.
If you book tickets and then have a legitimate reason to cancel please get in touch as above. We will offer refunds on a case by case basis but will need to deduct booking fees (which we absorb ourselves into the ticket cost).
Transport tickets will go on sale six weeks before each away fixture during the regular season. The sale of tickets will typically end on the Sunday night prior to each fixture., but may be held open if spaces remain.
Each away trip will be advertised on our website well before tickets actually go on sale; ticket prices will be evident prior to them becoming available.
Ticket prices for each trip will vary depending on how distant each club is from Sixways and hence how much the coach-hire is costing WWST.
You will not need to bring printed transport tickets to the coach. We will have at least two WWST representatives on each trip and they will have an electronic register on their phone or lap-top. Please do not get on the coach until you have "checked-in" with your WWST rep.
For day-trips (ie all but Cornish Pirates away) we will plan to arrive at the stadium about an hour before kick-off and depart about 45 minutes after the final whistle.
All coach travel will depart from (and return to) the bus-stop adjacent to Sixways House
(the single story building in the main car park). Those travelling on the coach will be able to leave cars in the Sixways main car-park; in the unlikely event of a clash preventing parking we will advertise this well ahead of time.
Sixways House Bus-stop
The first four away fixtures have been advertised on our Events Page with Transport tickets for the Ampthill pre-season friendly and the Hartpury league game already available to purchase. If, like me, you haven't travelled much to away games on supporter coaches then take the plunge and book your tickets - I think you'll be pleasantly surprised and, as they say, if you don't go you'll never know!
